Categories help customers find products. A sub category sits under a parent category, for example Men → Panjabi. You must create the parent category first.
Where to find it
Sidebar → Catalog → Categories / Sub Categories
Step by step
- Open Catalog → Categories and click + New Category.
- Enter the Name and keep Status as Active.
- Set a Sort Order (smaller numbers show first).
- Upload an Icon and a Banner image (PNG, JPG or WEBP).
- Fill in the SEO title and Meta description. Leave SEO title blank to use the category name.
- Click the Save button at the bottom of the form (scroll down if you cannot see it).
- Now open Catalog → Sub Categories and click + New Sub Category.
- Choose the Parent Category, enter the Name, Status and Sort Order, add an icon or banner, then click Save Sub Category.
What each field or button means
| Field / button | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name * | Category name shown on your shop. |
| Status * | Active = visible; Inactive = hidden. |
| Sort Order | Position in menus and lists. |
| Parent Category * | For sub categories only: which category it belongs under. |
Tips
- Keep the number of top categories small (5–8) so your menu stays simple.
- Use Delete selected on the Categories list to remove several at once.
